MUNICH, August 10, 2026 — FMC³ Robotics, an industrial embodied AI company, is proud to announce that Dr. Cheng Chi will join the company as Chief AI Scientist, effective August 10, 2026.
In this role, Dr. Chi will lead FMC³ Robotic’s foundational research in embodied intelligence and spearhead the continuous evolution of the FMC³ AI Brain platform across autonomous learning, spatial reasoning, and decision-control capabilities.
Prior to joining FMC³, Dr. Chi served as the Head of Embodied Large Models at a world-leading AI research institute, where he spearheaded the development of embodied intelligence foundation models and cross-embodiment coordination architectures.
Dr. Chi brings profound academic expertise across embodied AI and computer vision. He has published over 50 research papers in leading AI and robotics conferences and journals, accumulating over 5,700 citations on Google Scholar. His landmark research has earned prestigious honors including CVPR Best Paper Nomination, CVPR Oral and Highlight, and NeurIPS Spotlight presentation. Dr. Chi also serve as Area Chair of leading AI conferences, including NeurIPS and ICLR. Dr. Chi’s research focus—spanning spatial reasoning, cross-embodiment generalization, and humanoid motion generation—aligns seamlessly with FMC³’s core technology roadmap.

Dr. Chi earned his Ph.D. and completed his postdoctoral research at the CAS. His academic achievements have been recognized with the Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award, as well as Outstanding Graduate honors at both the institutional and municipal levels.
